Meet Our Beloved Rescue Horses
Our Rescue
Horses
Every horse at Unique Diamond Horse Sanctuary has a story. Some arrived frightened. Some came from neglect. Some were abandoned. Some needed immediate care, patience, and a safe place to finally rest.
This page is dedicated to the animals who now call our sanctuary home.
We are honored to care for each one, but with that honor comes a significant responsibility. Feeding, sheltering, rehabilitating, and medically supporting so many rescues takes ongoing effort and funding. Many of these horses require long-term care, special attention, and consistent monitoring to maintain their health and comfort.
They Are Not Just Part Of Our Sanctuary, They Are The Heart Of It.
Why Their Care Matters
Rescuing A Horse Is Not A One-Time Event. It Is An Ongoing Promise.
Our rescued horses need:
- Nutritious feed and hay
- Clean water and daily care
- Veterinary care and health monitoring
- Hoof care and maintenance
- Safe shelter and secure fencing
- Time, patience, and compassionate handling
Every Donation Helps Us Continue Honoring That Promise.

Achiever
I am roughly 16 years old and a thoroughbred. I know I look like a quarter horse, and I might be smaller than the average thoroughbred, but I am just as fast as any tall one. Before I made it to my forever home, I was supposed to race. Instead, I was kept as a backyard horse until I was given up. Now, I spend my days with my newfound herd, and I love being around them. I love to play and be funny when humans are around me. I am a big, gentle giant and love to have a bath, graze in the sun, and run fast with my herd playing in the paddock.

Barbie
I am a five-year-old Welch Arabian Pony, and I do not know much about my past. I know that the people who had me did not want a smaller horse anymore and just gave me up. Don’t worry or be sad for me because I am at my forever home with my new herd family and my best friend, Misty. We play all day and roam in the paddocks.

Chance
I am 20 years old, a gelding, and they say I am a quarter horse. Before I retired, I loved to do horse lessons with kids, allowing them to learn how to ride and care for horses. I am a gentle giant and am loving retirement life.

Drama
I am three years old, I am a thoroughbred, I was born to run and race. I am disabled and have arthritis in my legs, due to being trained at too young of an age. If they were to keep racing or riding me, I would become extremely sore, and it would hurt to walk. I am at my forever home now where I enjoy spending time with my best friend, MyQuest, as we play, eat, and scratch each other’s backs.

Colt &
Dutchess
These two adorable mini horses may be small in size, but they are full of personality. Colt and Dutchess are playful youngsters who have quickly formed a special bond with Magic, bringing energy, curiosity, and joy to the sanctuary. Their sweet nature and lively spirit make them a favorite at Unique Diamond Horse Sanctuary, and a perfect example of how connection and companionship help every horse thrive.

Fancy
I am a thoroughbred with a leg that curves out. I could have had this corrected if, as a pony, I would have received proper care. I have a very sad background, prior to coming to my forever home, I was starved. I wasn’t given any food and was always extremely hungry. I do not know why they did not feed me. It had been rumored that it was the boarding facility’s fault, but I am not sure why my mommy at the time did not check up on me. I am not sure of the truth, but I just know I was very hungry. In my before picture, my bones are very visible. I wasn’t sure I was going to make it but then I found my forever home and they made sure I got the proper nutrients and fed around the clock. I love attention and being brushed. I make funny faces at times, just to make humans laugh.

Leonardo
Leonardo – I am Warmblood, roughly 14 years old. I am very pretty, and I know it! My owner passed away and I was given up. I was very scared when I got to my forever home because I wasn’t used to the new surroundings. I met my best friend, Shiner, on the first day I got here, and we have been best friends ever since. I love to be by his side all day long, and I love to graze in the paddock with him. I have a unique walk, and they say I look so fancy when trot and gallop.

Magic
My name is Designer Painted Magic, but my friends just call me Magic ✨. I’m so lucky to have found my way to Unique Diamond Horse Sanctuary, where I receive the special care I need for my diabetes, white line disease, and laminitis while being surrounded by warmth and love. Although my mom and I miss each other, we both know this is the best place for me to stay healthy and happy. I absolutely love being brushed and petted, and I’m always ready to share a little magic with everyone I meet.

Misty
I am a Welch Pony, but really 14 years old. When I first came to my forever home, they and the vet thought I was a lot older because I was not taken care of. You can see the first day I arrived compared to how I look today. It is amazing what love and kindness can do to you, and I am an excellent example of that. I love to be with my herd, and I love my best friend, Barbie. I love being at my forever home. I love to have kids pet me, brush me, and spend time with me.

All Our Munny
Hi! I’m four years old, and I was born to be a racer. I love to run fast! Unfortunately, I broke my sesamoid bone — kind of like if a human broke their big toe. Because of this, I can no longer race or jump beyond a certain height.
My mommy made the difficult decision to give me to a sanctuary because she didn’t want me to end up in a home that might push me beyond my limits and cause more harm. I know this might sound a little silly, but I love sticking out my tongue and having humans hold it. It makes me laugh — neigh, neigh!

MyQuest
I am five years old, I am a thoroughbred, my dad was a big racer, and they had hopes I too would follow in his footsteps. I believe I broke my leg during my fourth or fifth race that I had ever ran. I was crippled and unable to race again. I am healed now, but I cannot race or be ridden anymore due to my leg. I am very happy to spend my days at my forever home with my best friend, Drama. We love to play together, and I have a lot of anxiety if he isn’t close to me. So, we just roam our paddock, play together, and scratch each other’s back when needed.

Sandy
I am a Quarter Horse and 24 years old. I am a mare, and I am retired from being a trail horse. I did some barrel racing in my prime and loved it. I also helped young kids learn how to ride and care for horses. I have a huge heart and love to show it with a nudge when you pet me. I am enjoying the retired life with my herd, grazing, following my herd around, and sunbathing in the Florida sun.

Shiner
Hi, I am a gelding and 24 years old. If you zoom in on my leg, you will notice I have a very large nodule. I have really bad arthritis in that leg, and it can become stiff at times especially in the cold. Thankfully, I live in sunny Florida! I was told that I am like this because when I was a young gelding, I roped competitively, maybe pushing me to a limit that wasn’t healthy for my legs. The turning at sharp angles for many years took a toll on my body. Now, I am a retired horse at Unique Horse Sanctuary, but don’t let my leg fool you, I can still run with my best friend Leonardo. Though I am not as fast as I use to be, I am very happy with my forever home.

Hard Knocking
Hard Knocking is a registered Thoroughbred and former racehorse who once crossed the finish line as a winner at Monmouth Park, proof of his strength, heart, and determination. His racing career was cut short after a serious leg injury, but thanks to surgery and dedicated rehabilitation, he was given a second chance. Today, Hard Knocking has left the track behind and is thriving in a life filled with care, patience, and peace, showing that even after hardship, healing and hope are always possible.

An Important Update From Our Sanctuary!
At this time, Unique Diamond Horse Sanctuary is at full capacity.
We are heartbroken that the need continues to grow, but we must be honest about what we can responsibly handle. More horses are being abandoned, and in some cases, left at the facility without warning. While we wish we could save them all, our first duty is to provide proper care for the animals already depending on us.
Because of the number of animals currently at the sanctuary, combined with concerns about equine virus exposure and the need to protect the health of our herd, visits, groups, and outside interactions must now be limited to requests only.
This is not a step we take lightly. It is a necessary measure to protect the horses in our care and preserve the calm, safe environment they need.
