Unique Diamond Horse Sanctuary stands as a reflection of the healing power of compassion, resilience, and unconditional love. Founded by Veronica Lake, the sanctuary grew from a deeply personal journey shaped by hardship, strength, and the life-changing comfort horses brought into her world. Today, the sanctuary is dedicated to rescuing horses in need, providing them with a safe and loving environment, and creating a place rooted in hope, healing, and second chances.
Veronica’s story is one of remarkable perseverance. Raised within the foster care system, she experienced painful challenges early in life that could have easily defined her future. At the age of sixteen, her life began to change when she was welcomed into a loving foster family that offered the kindness, support, and stability she had long needed. During those difficult early years, basketball became one outlet for her strength, but horses became something even deeper. They became a refuge.
While living with her biological father, Veronica endured traumatic experiences that no child should ever face. In those darkest moments, she found herself drawn to local horse barns, where she would sometimes hide away simply to feel safe. In the quiet presence of horses, she discovered comfort, peace, and a kind of understanding that words could not offer. Their calm strength, grace, and gentle nature gave her a sense of safety and healing when she needed it most. That bond would eventually shape the course of her life.
As the years went on, Veronica built a life centered on hard work, compassion, entrepreneurship, and giving back to others. Her success in business allowed her to make a meaningful impact throughout Florida’s heartland, but her deepest calling has always remained close to the source of her own healing. Unique Diamond Horse Sanctuary was born from that calling. It reflects her belief that horses have a powerful ability to help restore trust, bring comfort, and support healing in ways that are both quiet and profound.

Today, the sanctuary is home to rescued horses who have come from difficult circumstances and now rely on daily care, nourishment, veterinary support, and a peaceful environment to heal and thrive. Unique Diamond Horse Sanctuary continues to grow in both responsibility and purpose, with its full attention now centered on giving the animals already in its care the best life possible.
Because of the recent growth of the sanctuary and concerns surrounding equine virus exposure, visits are now limited and available by request only. This is a necessary step to protect the health and well-being of the horses and ponies and to ensure the sanctuary can remain focused on their daily care, safety, and comfort.
